I interviewed Dr Mutaz Haddadin a Thoracic surgeon also known as a cardioc surgeon. He studied at Jordanian Royal Medical Services. 1. Vaping is a part of smoking but why is smoking bad in the first place? Smoking is harmful it will give cancer, respiratory diseases, and cardiovascular issues. Plus nicotine makes it hard to quit. It also leads to pollution. 2. How does vaping impact the respiratory system? By inhaling you're leading harmful chemicals into your lungs it may even lead permemant problems like some lung diease, lung damage, lung cancer and rare cases even death. 3. Do you advice people not to vape/smoke? Of course not but I do get why people do. In Jordan no one's is forcing you not smoke/vape and stress play a big role. 4. What's the biggest difference between a non smoker lungs and a smoker lungs? Usually a smoker's lungs have more inflammation than a non smokers. The lungs are pink but a smoker's lungs have darker lungs due to tar and harmful chemicals. Lastly non smoker lung have higher capitcity than smoker lungs. 5. What's the potential of health risk vaping/smoking from a surgical point of view? Both vaping and smoking affect the wound healing, and the immune function. Which led to problems complications in the recovery process. 6. How do you think vaping became popular? Well mainly it doesn't include tobacco so it's less bad eventhough the affects are still the same. It's something new so people will try it out and the social media help promote it. 7. The underage vape but why? It could be family or friends uses vapes. It also helps that it's new so there's a lack of information about it. 8. Why is vapes accesable? Since the law takes a while moderate new things, they don't deeply think about it at first until a few months or years passes. Also marketing and advertising made it look vape much safer than vaping and the design is slick and modern.
